Prometido just completed another successful breeding year in 2001 with over 100 mares bred. We are pleased at the many repeat breedings he gets from owners who tell us that their Prometido babies are the best they have ever had. We even have one breeder who is awaiting her third Prometido foal! The stud fee for 2002 remains at $2,500 which is one of the best bargains in the breed. I remember when stallion breeding cost was a major expense for me so I would like to make Prometido available to the smaller breeder. |
Prometido at 6 years of age already has two National Champion Foals. They are both jet black which is indication that his gray color is genetically recessive. He has produced mostly dark colors and chestnut with little or no markings. Owners of Prometido's foals marvel at their resemblance to him with elegant carriage, perfect gait at birth, and incredibly sweet disposition. We definitely can promise to any breeder that Prometido is very prepotent for the fino gene. The prices for his foals have been substantial. A three-month-old colt sold last year for $30,000 with the range being from $15,000 and up depending on the bloodlines of the mare. Several of his offspring should be seen in the show ring this year under saddle. Prometido continues to be the most delightful stallion. He is curious and loves people and attention. Horse cookies and carrots are as interesting to him as the new mare that just pulled in. By the way, veterinarians tell us that his semen is the best that they have ever seen. His concentration is typically between 300 and 500 million which means he ships very well over long distances. We are routinely shipping now to Colombia as well as Puerto Rico. We also now have available frozen as well as chilled semen. |
