Weekend at Riverview Farms

Its not often that I personally write an article on my visits to different farms, but this trip warrants a report. You may ask why this trip was different, well simply put I had been invited numerous times to visit a very good acquaintances of mine , Leo & Ann Howell of Riverview Paso Fino Horse Farm in Toms Brook Virginia.

Now for 5yrs I have said, sure one of these days when I have the opportunity I'll stop by. This past weekend The Howells had an open house and demonstration of some outstanding Paso Fino Horses and again I was invited to attend so I made a concerted effort to clear my schedule for this event and decided to go. I asked my friend Jim,
a die hard quarter horse owner to come along with me. I arrived at Riverview Farms and tried to remain incognito amongst the people that were all ready, I even wore a hat and dark sunglasses. I wasn't really trying to hide, I just wanted some time to look around and see the horses and didn't want to be treated special from anyone else, but it didn't work out because everyone who visits the Howells gets special treatment.

As we strolled around looking at horses, I was found by Janet Weiss and then we were greeted by none other than Ann, I quickly stepped behind Jim and said hi as Ann led us off on a tour of the barns showing us her Horses and introducing us to all the other guests that were visiting at Riverview Farms. So my identity didn't remain secret, because Ann is the quintessential host and makes everyone, even strangers feel like part of the family.

Also at Riverview Farms is Eduardo Figueroa who with his sons are leading the team of trainers Ann has at Riverview. One of the riding trainers, Linda Helms is also an old friend of mine. One of my favorite Paso Fino Horse photographers Darlene Wohlart was there to do a photo session, so it was nice to see all the people in one place that I normally only see at various shows.

Now all you people talk about breeding to Great Stallions or Foundation stock. But have any of you taken the time to see what great Stallions Riverview has to offer that meet all of the above. Pleybeyo , Resorte IV & Bochica
Well just look to the Left and see three Sons of those Stallions that meet the criteria we all talk about and guess what ! they are all in one place
Riverview Farms.

Ann, Eduardo and his Sons demonstrated the offspring of these Stallions and it was an impressive site to see these Paso Fino horses worked and then having the opportunity to also ride them. Here Ann is talking with some of her visitors while watching the demonstartion.

Various Paso Fino Horses were Paraded in front of the visitors who all were enjoying the demonstration. Paso's were sold and a few mares were also brought in for breeding to Ann's Stallions.

As I said , Ann made everyone feel at home and took the time to personally assist each of her guests and from the smiles, I think she was successful .

I know , you want to see more pictures, and they are coming at ya, I may not be as good as Darlene and you really should get her to take your Stallion photos especially if you are going to place them in Pasoregistry's Premier Stallion Magazine

Just a few more words about the weekend. I for one had a wonderful time, Ann outdid herself with southern hospitality and yes I will visit more often, I hope it doesn't take you five years to visit Riverview Farms
And if you are going to the Clemson SC show and especially the SPECTRUM make sure you seek out the Howells and see all the Riverview Farm Paso's that will be winners at these shows.
